Following the Star: Seeking Jesus with Faith and Curiosity

"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, 'Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him'" (Matthew 2:1-2).

In this passage from the Gospel of Matthew, we see the story of the Magi, also known as the three wise men, who followed a star to find the birthplace of Jesus. Despite facing challenges and obstacles along the way, their faith and curiosity led them to the presence of Jesus, and they honored him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

As I reflect on this passage, I am struck by the Magi's willingness to seek out Jesus and to follow him with a sense of curiosity and faith. Their journey was not an easy one, but they were willing to take risks and face challenges in order to find Jesus and offer him their worship and devotion.

This story reminds me that, like the Magi, we too are called to seek out Jesus in our own lives and to follow him with a sense of curiosity and faith. It may not always be easy, and there may be obstacles in our path, but if we are open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and seek Jesus with a sincere heart, we will find him and be blessed by his presence.

May we be inspired by the example of the Magi and seek Jesus with a sincere heart, offering him our worship and devotion. Amen.
